Il notebook composto da una scocca in fibra di carbonio per resistere ad urti, cadute e pressione. Il suo peso si può definire "piuma" poco più di un chilo e uno spessore di soli 20,6 mm.
Un meccanismo anti-shock protegge l’hard disk in caso di urti o caduta. BU201, come gli altri prodotti della linea ASUSPRO, adotta i parametri dello standard militare US-MIL-STD 810G, avendo superato 14 test quali resistenza a urti, cadute, durata delle cerniere, mentre la tastiera è resistente a fuoriuscite accidentali di liquidi.
ASUSPRO BU201 ha una tastiera full-size con tasti comodamente larghi e una corsa di 2 mm per un miglior feedback, è retro-illuminata per poterla utilizzare anche in ambienti con scarsa illuminazione. Completo anche di touchpad con trackpoint a tre tasti ASUSPRO SensePoint. Il display antiriflettente è da 12,5 pollici con risoluzione Full HD e si apre a 180 gradi. Per la sicurezza e l'inviolabilità il notebook utilizza un chip integrato TPM (Trusted Platform Module) che effettua la cifratura via hardware dei dati sensibili, un sensore biometrico per il rilevamento delle impronte digitali e un lettore di smart card.
