Sony sta per lanciare, in maniera trasversale, il suo concept di smartwatch, equipaggiato di tecnologia display E-paper sia sul quadrante che sul cinturino. Eccolo pronto a mostrarsi in video il FES Watch.

Qualche giorno fa si è potuto apprendere che la Sony sta sviluppando un nuovo concept di smartwartch, che si distinguerà dai suoi rivali per il fatto, almeno questo è quanto viene fuori dalle fonti di media internazionali che starebbe usando una speciale tecnologia brevettata, conosciuta coon il nome di E-paper.
La suddetta tecnologia non dovrebbe essere la stessa che conosciamo come carta elettronica, ma bensì, stando a quanto si può leggere su Bloomberg, di qualcosa di innovativo nei confronti dei tradizionali schermi e-ink che possiamo trovare sugli e-reader e affini.
Niente immagini di questo dispositivo, nel momento in cui è stato annunciato, fino ad oggi che si è potuto avere a disposizione qualcosa in più per realizzare che si tratta non più di una semplice idea ma bensì del prodotto finito su cui Sony sta concentrando i suoi sforzi. Quello che vi propongo è molto più di semplici e statiche immagini, è un video, nel quale si può ammirare in azione lo smartwatch! FES Watch ovvero sia il nuovo concept di smartwatch secondo Sony, frutto dello sviluppo portato avanti da Fashion Entertainments, una startup tramite il suo sito afferma che il prodotto in oggetto è soltanto un "progetto iniziale" ma, in realtà, in base alle fonti del Wall Street Journal, FES Watch è una partizione di Sony stessa. Nessun accenno viene fatto sul nome di Sony sia nel sito che nel video, ma ho motivo di fidarmi di quanto afferma il Wall Street Journal.

Il progetto FES Watch ha ottenuto ben 3.5 milioni di yen (circa 30.000 $) di investimento da più di 150 benefattori, superando il suo target iniziale fissato a 2 milioni di yen. Come sempre capita in queste occasioni tutti i partecipanti alla donazione dei fondi, riceveranno per primi l'orologio, cosa che con ogni probabilità inizierà dal mese di maggio del prossimo anno.
Ma a questo punto vi starete chiedendo che cosa ha a che fare l'orologio in sviluppo da Sony con questo progetto della Fashion Entertainments?
In comune hanno una cosa: la tecnologia display E-paper. Questo basta ed avanza per far presupporre che, in realtà, stiamo trattando dello stesso device.
