Microsoft lo qualifica come “il computer olografico wireless più avanzato al mondo”, HoloLens segna il confine tra una visione tradizionale dell’informatica basata sul computer, e un’interazione molto più personale e umana.
Gli ologrammi vengono resi visibili per mezzo di nuove API che fanno parte del pacchetto di Windows 10, che permetteranno agli sviluppatori di creare esperienze olografiche nel mondo reale attraverso app dedicate, che apriranno le nuove frontiere di comunicazione, e creeranno metodi di esplorazioni fin'ora impensabili. E tutto questo non solo per un impiego ludico ma anche professionale.
Microsoft HoloLens è il primo computer olografico libero da vincoli di connessione, non necessita di cavi, telefoni o di una connessione ad un PC e questo è davvero incredibile se si pensa all’enorme mole di dati provenienti dai suoi sensori che dovrà elaborare in tempo reale. E’ dotato di lenti olografiche trasparenti ad alta definizione, un chipset di nuova generazione comprendente una CPU, una GPU e una HPU (unità di elaborazione olografica), vari sensori e fotocamere, e di un sistema integrato per il riconoscimento del suono spaziale per ascoltare gli ologrammi ovunque si trovino nella stanza, con precisione millimetrica.
Microsoft HoloLens fornirà una nuova visione della realtà grazie alla sua capacità di distinguere e rielaborare sia ciò che si sta osservando o ciò che si sta dicendo e anche ciò che si sta creando con le proprie mani. Immaginate ad un utilizzo associato all’applicazione Skype e alla possibilità di comunicare con il vostro interlocutore visualizzato sotto forma di ologramma: ciò che fino a qualche tempo veniva considerato fantascienza presto diventerà realtà!
