Il lettore di impronte digitali presente nei dispositivi di fascia alta di Samsung e Apple, ha aperto la strada ad altre case produttrici in eterna concorrenza per uscire vincitori nel vasto mercato dei smartphone. Presente anche in vari dispositivi, come nel Mate 7 di Huawei, avrebbe dovuto essere presente anche sull’ultimo smartphone “Pure Google” prodotto da Motorola, il tanto discusso Nexus 6, ma non è andata così.

Il dirigente ha chiarito che, rinunciare ad un lettore d’impronte è stata una decicisione presa all’ultimo momento, per l'insorgere di alcuni problemi legati alla qualità del prodotto utilizzato.
Non è difficile capire che il vero motivo di questa rinuncia sia un obbligo da parte di Apple, detentrice del primato nel settore, di trovare nuovi fornitori di produzione di tali componenti, per le aziende concorrenti. Altri fornitori non sempre attrezzate adeguatamente per la produzione di massa di sensori biometrici. Avendo tempi di consegna ristretti ed essendo Nexus 6 un prodotto di “nicchia”, Motorola ha dunque preferito ovviare al problema, rimuovendo dal progetto “Nexus 6″ il lettore di impronte digitali.
Se il Nexus 6 avesse avuto il lettore di impronte, sicuramente sarebbe stato un ulteriore costo per un prodotto che non sembra stia riscuotendo un gran successo, per via sopratutto del prezzo e delle dimensioni esagerate.
