Nasce dall'unione dell'operatore giapponese KDDI, e il produttore coreano LG il nuovo LG FxO, lo smartphone più originali mai visto in circolazione negli ultimi tempi, anche per la scelta del sistema operativo montato Firefox OS 2.0.
L'impegno di KDDI è stato impiegato tutto nella combinazione di estetica e originalità: partendo dalla premessa di trasparenza e apertura di Firefox OS, il designer Tokujin Yoshioka ha disegnato un dispositivo che non lascia nulla di segreto, mettendo in trasparenza tutto l'interno compreso di batteria, incorniciato con un telaio in acciaio.

Il dispositivo viene assemblato da LG per conto di KDDI: nessuno in teoria vieta al marchio coreano di realizzare presto un prodotto simile o identico da commercializzare anche altrove, magari negli stessi mercati dove Google sta puntando su Android One.
